Mangers and Coaches
I have been getting a bunch of calls from Coaches from different
teams along with umpires and the Assigners
TO CLARIFY THE UMPIRE RULE AND THE CONTRACT WE HAVE WITH RED UMPIRES
1. Cost
per umpire if you use Red Umpires is $60 per umpire across the board
2. Red Umpires has a Strict cancellation policy
A. The home team contacts the assigner and schedules umpires to umpire their game.
B. If in the event a game needs to be canceled due to weather the home team has up to a 2 hr window
for rain If canceled within the 2 hr window and umpires show up to the game they will receive a half fee which is $30
each
C. If a game is canceled within a 24hr window/period the home team is responsible
for paying the umpires full fee.
Example if a team is scheduled
to play today Monday 13 June at 6 pm and they cancel the game today at 12 noon the home team would have to pay the full fee
of the umpires due to that umpire was schedule to do the game that day.
IF THE GAME IS CANCALED WITH
MORE THEN 24 HR NOTICE THEN THERE IS NO FEES TO BE PAID . IT GIVES THE UMPIRE WHO WAS ASSIGNED TO YOUR GAME PLENTY OF TIME
TO TRY AND GET ANOTHER GAME.
D. In the event that you have a game scheduled for Sunday and it rains
Saturday night you must notify the umpires as early as possible about your fields.
Do not contact him at 2 pm and you have a 3 pm game saying the field is not playable Use courtesy and common-sense please
This
is the Contract that we have with Red Umpires and if you use Red Umpires as asked this is the Cancellation Rule. If you do
not use Red Umpires please check with your assigners to see what their cancellation policy is. Most have the same type of
cancellation policy.
IN THE EVENT YOUR TEAM IS THE AWAY TEAM AND YOU ARE THE REASON WHY THE GAME IS BEING CANCELED
AND ITS INSIDE THE 24 HRS WINDOW YOUR TEAM WILL BE HELD RESPONISBLE TO PAY THE UMPIRE FEES. THE HOME TEAM WILL PAY THE FEE
AND THE AWAY TEAM WILL THEN RE-PAY THE HOME TEAM FOR THE UMPIRE FEES UNLESS THE OTHER TEAM WORKS IT OUT PRIOR.
THE TEAM THAT CANCELS HAS A 24HR WINDOW TO PAY UMPIRE FEES , NO GAMES WILL COUNT UNTIL FEES ARE PAID, IF YOU FAIL TO PAY THE
UMPIRE FEES YOUR TEAM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN POST SEASON PLAY OR ANY TOURNAMENT
A few Mangers or Coaches
have called me upset over this rule and expressed they opinions. I am not taking sides I will listen but I will also
referrer you back to Mike the Assigner from Red Umpires or whomever your assigner. This is the deal we have
agreed to with Red Umpires to lock in the umpire rates of $60 per umpire. We have sat with a couple other umpires but they
rates were higher or the same but the umpires were inconstant.
