NJYB NORTH JERSEY YOUTH BASEBALL 2011 SEASON
To: All Mangers, Coaches and League Directors;
The
NJYB hopes everyone had a good healthy and safe holiday. We would like to give you some information for the 2011 season. Our
web site NJYB.NET is updated and will provide you with all information needed for the
this coming year( Spring , Memorial Day and Summer Season). The NJYB is a governed AABC league in North
Jersey. We allow teams from the following counties in our league Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, and Morris in our town league.
The AABC believes in teaching our young players the game of baseball, players will be playing the game under the AABC White
Book Rules which are modified from the MLB National League rules. Our field dimensions change every odd
age group for the safety of the players and also with the intent of getting the players readying for the bigger fields.
The AABC has made some changes in the rules to provide safety for the players. All composite bats have been banned wood
and metal, the reasoning is that the reaction of the ball coming off the bat is at a greater speed then some of the players
could react( NO Composite Bats will be allowed) . Dates for tournaments and allotted time for tournaments
to be held has been adjusted. ( See NJYB - AABC Tournament dates on the web site)
The NJYB
offers leagues to the following ages 7u-15u in the town Division.
Town teams from 7u thru
12u are allowed to pick up 2 players from outside of their town if
they need players. The players cannot come from a town that has a team in the league if so then the team requesting to pick
up players will be required to have a waiver from the town the players come from.
Town teams from 13u thru
14u are allowed to pick up 3 players from outside of their town if
they need players. The players cannot come from a town that has a team in the league if so then the team requesting to pick
up players will be required to have a waiver from the town the players come from
The 15u Division is a new division to the NJYB this year. Teams may have players from any distance within
50 miles radius. This is our new High School division and will be run as our younger ages with teams receiving a regular schedule
and a tournament with a winner advancing to the AABC World Series in Tulsa OK.
A new
ruling that has come down from the AABC and the Mid-Atlantics Regional that will make many New Jersey teams happy. Each year we get many emails, phone calls
and complaints about New York teams playing in our league. Good news to the New Jersey teams the rules for the NJYB Town Division
is that NO NEW YORK TEAM will be permitted to advance from New Jersey as of the 2011 Summer Season. The
NJYB will be made up of all New Jerseys teams in our town division. No New York teams will be permitted to advance out of
the NJYB in the Town Division. The NJYB will send a New Jersey team to all AABC Regional and World Series
to represent New Jersey from our town program.
New York teams will be permitted to play in the Spring league,
Memorial Day Tournament and Fall Season. If a New York team cares to play in the Summer league they may do so but they will
only be permitted to play in regular season games and NO TOURNAMENTS that have teams that advance out of the NJYB .
Vince and I each year try to make the NJYB a premier league for teams and players we listen to managers,
coaches league directors and we try to make adjustments to making the league better with the feedback we receive. Sometimes
our hands are tied and we can't adjust rules or change tournament dates because they are set by the AABC National office.
But we do listen and try to do everything we believe that will provide everyone with the best baseball league. For many years
we have heard teams wanted more baseball and additional tournaments so last year we tried it and we found that some teams
were crumbling as early as the beginning of July. So what we have done this year rather than teams playing a 20 game schedule
and all the way to the end of July we have decided to go to a 15 game schedule starting the 1st of June and then having our
NJYB State Tournament either the 7-10 or the 14-17 July with the even ages advancing to a AABC Regional Tournament and the
odd ages advancing right to a AABC World Series. Than at the end of July, 25- 31 July we will have a weeklong tournament for
all teams that still are able to field teams and looking to play baseball the winner of this tournament will receive a paid
bid to a weekend at Sports at the Beach in Delaware for any weekend of their choice. There will some cost to teams for this
tournament to cover umpires and fees.
The Following season and tournaments
Spring Season Town teams will play a 8 game schedule and the top 4 teams will play in
a single elimination tournament with a winner being crowned and receiving a Team Trophy and individuals. Start of the Spring
is 3 April to 22 May. Cost is $200
Summer season will start 1 June to either 7 July or 10 July depending on the age group.
Teams will play a 15 game schedule and the top 8 teams will make the play-offs. Winners of each age group will advance to
either a AABC Regional or World Series. Cost is $400
Teams that register for Spring and Summer at
the same time will receive a NJYB discount of $100 making the fee for Spring and Summer total cost $500 only if paid together
no acceptations.
Memorial Day Tournament we have changed the format guaranteeing teams 3 games ( See Memorial Day Rules)
with the winners at each age group receiving a paid bid to Sports at the Beach in Delaware for any weekend of their choice
during the 2011 season.
NJYB Club Division 11u- 15u Division
We will also offer a Club Division for teams from that have players from varies towns.
The Club league will be made of teams looking to play more baseball and have less travel. Mangers will have the flexibility
of rearranging their teams schedules to fit in with their tournaments and prior commitments. The Club Divisions will repeat
all the same benefits at the town as far as scheduling and teams advancing to a NJYB State Tournament with the winners advancing
on to a AABC Regional or World Series.
